BOOKS AND BABIES (Mothers and babies in the Community Center)

STORYTIME FOR PRESCHOOLERS (In the Library)

SUMMER READING PROGRAM for students who have finished Kindergarten thru 12 yrs. of age. Grade level readers are available all summer so that students can stay on grade level with their reading.

HOSTS 5th GRADE FIELD TRIPS several times a year for those students who have achieved their AR goals.

TARKINGTON ROUND-UP - library sponsored Scholastic Book Fair. 1st Saturday annually from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Tarkington Middle School.  A family funfest and celebration sponsored by the Tarkington Student Foundation.


GIVING TREE – special program whereby individuals, businesses, classes, etc., purchase leaves for the tree as a way of donating money to the library, often as a memorial gift or in honor of someone.

Green Leaf: $50.00 - $99.00.

Copper Leaf: $100.00 - $249.00.

Silver Leaf: $250.00 - $499.00.

Gold Leaf: $500.00 and above.

Engraved paving bricks to be used in sidewalks and landscape borders are available for purchase to assist the library and Tarkington Prairie Historical Society in financing building expansion and improvements.  Bricks are 4" x 8" and can have 2 lines, up to 14 characters in each line.  Cost is $50.00. 

Tarkington Longhorn Blankets:  $50.00 - inquire at library

Site for paper recycling:  2 bins located in the library parking lot beginning February 15, 2009.  Library will receive a percentage of the money raised by the recycling. The money will be used for various library programs.
