Goals:
1. Preserve the history of Tarkington Prairie
2. Foster public interest in preserving our history
3. Obtain historical markers, the first being for Ryan
Cemetery
4. Recruit more members
Annual dues: $10.00/person
Meetings – 3rd Monday night of every other month beginning in
January, 7:00 p.m. at the fellowship hall of Rural Shade Baptist
Church until further notice due to the storm damage at the Ruth
Stetson Community Center sustained during Hurricane Ike.
TARKINGTON ROUND-UP
1st Saturday
annually 10:00 to 4:00 at the Tarkington Middle School. A family
funfest and celebration. Project Graduation sponsored food
and fun booths. Entertainment by school bands, school
choirs, and other local talent. Historical displays of the
Tarkington area. Library sponsored Scholastic Book
Fair. Vendor spaces available - call Ruth at

sustained during Hurricane Ike. Re-opening is planned for
sometime in the spring.
Available to rent for family reunions, showers, weddings,
meetings, classes, etc.
$100.00 – all day
$15.00 – by the hour
$300.00 – security deposit which is refundable after the building
is inspected when event is over and clean-up done.
